Scary encounter leads to two arrests near Placerville

By David Richie

A shotgun-wielding parolee and an unregistered sex offender were arrested Sunday afternoon by El Dorado County sheriff's deputies after a man reported...he had gone to a home on White Oak Drive to help a woman bury a dead dog. Jason Harley Costa, 32, also was residing at that address, and he and the man had been involved in a previous altercation, said Sgt. Jim Byers, sheriff's office spokesman.

When Costa saw the man arrive, Byers said, he grabbed a shotgun and confronted the man outside the home. Costa is a parolee who is not supposed to have access to firearms. He allegedly struck the man with the weapon. When the man suggested that Costa put down the gun and fight him fair and square, Costa allegedly fired a blast into the ground...

Deputies arrested Costa on suspicion of assault with a firearm, a parole violation and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The deputies also ended up talking to a man identified as Gabriel Rider Goeson, who reportedly witnessed the confrontation...told them that he also lived at the White Oak Drive address... Goeson, 21, is a felony sex offender who had failed to register -- possibly because he was living in the home with a 16-year-old girl...(Full text at Sack-B)

Once Paco has received the required data on Mr. Costa, he will be properly inducted into the Gold Star club. As a rule, the following information is needed...
  • DORC Number
  • Commitment offense
  • Parole date and/or most recent release
  • If PAL, date of suspension
  • Violations and adjudications, especially COP actions
  • Documents are not required but fax 'em if you got 'em: (916) 914-2324
Information should be emailed to pacovilla0@lycos.com (or faxed). Paco's sources are confidential and protected accordingly. All messages, faxes etc are promptly deleted or otherwise destroyed.

In the months ahead, the Gold Star program will be enhanced and formalized under the umbrella of ParoleeWatch.org, an independent news portal focusing on parolee crime and parole related news reports. ParoleeWatch is currently in the web design stage. The site will go live before Summer strikes.

I for one find it immensely gratifying that our parolees do such obviously stupid things in public. Of course it does perhaps raise the bar for revokable behavior, but it does renew my faith in sub-human behavior.

I wonder if the parolee knew how old his "roomy's" girlfriend was? Also wondering how close he was to the young lady.
