Driving rehabilitation

Substance Abuse Treatment Services
Critical Component of Prison Reform

By Glenn Lavin
Correctional Administrator,
Division of Addiction and Recovery Services

The Division of Addiction and Recovery Services is playing an integral role in ensuring that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) meets the mandates outlined in the Public Safety and Offender Services Act of 2007 also known as AB 900.

“Substance abuse takes an enormous toll on human lives,” Kathy Jett, Undersecretary of Programs said. “Substance abuse has a negative effect on families and drives incarceration...(Full text at DORC.GOV)

Substance abuse drives more than incarceration, as Glenn P. Lavin of Yuba City will attest...
Appeal-Democrat-Police Blotter: Feb. 10, 2008

Police blotter listings are compiled from reports filed with area law enforcement and public safety agencies.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE ARRESTS

• Marlisa Kristine Pompa, 25, of Oregon House, was arrested by the Marysville Police Department at 10:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at East 10th Street and Ramirez Road, Marysville. She was booked into Yuba County Jail.

• Pedro Solorio Estrada, 35, of the 1100 block of Grande Avenue, Olivehurst, was arrested by the Yuba City Police Department at 8 p.m. Feb. 8 at Wilbur Avenue and Stevens Way, Yuba City. He was booked into Sutter County Jail.

Glenn Paul Lavin, 58, of the 1400 block of Portofino Drive, Yuba City, was arrested by the Yuba City Police Department at 6:10 p.m. Feb. 8 at the 1500 block of Grouse Way. He was booked into Sutter County Jail.

Surely, the fellow who was arrested for DUI and the DARS correctional administrator are not one and the same. Otherwise, the attached article by Peace Officer Lavin would ring somewhat hollow, wouldn't it? AND, if it was DORC's guy who got popped on a Deuce, at least it wasn't a state car this time...

If both Glenn Lavins are one and the same, he was either on vacation or had a hard day at DARS because 02/08/08 was a Friday and 6:10 pm was, well, kind of early for working from 8-5 pm.

I'm sure it's all just a strange coincidence. Yeah, that's right, must be it.

Hey, it's a guy thing. He should be promoted any time soon now because he now has demonstrated first-hand experience with the evils of drug abuse. He can relate to other substance abusers better now.

If it's all not just coincidence (wink, wink).

Hey, we will no whine before it's time. Besides, what's a little nip among friends, as long as one of the friends is the designated driver.

Anybody have access to an actual mug shot of the accused? It might be worth a 1000 words.

Wow throw the stones. I am assuming Mr. Lavin was off that day since state employees can't stand to work a full 40. Or was it one of the 365 state holidays Glen was taking advantage of. I would also assume the shots that have been taken are by people that have plenty of skeleton's in their own closet, and or have no chance of promoting to the level Mr. Lavin attained in his state career.
Please get back to your next pot luck, or other distraction and quit wasting tax payers dollars!!!

I'm not sure what you mean: who is wasting taxpayer dollars and what does it have to do with the post?

He without sin may throw the first stone. We all have less than perfect lives we've led.

Anonymous 6:01 sounds like the person whose post I read on the Sack-B website, blasting state government workers. (Mostly Records staff, if I recall correctly - yeah, I'm pretty sure it was in response to stories about SEIU's attempts to secure raises for its members.) They said their spouse works at an institution, and that Case Records staff have potlucks EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE WEEK, and that what little time they weren't busy socializing or eating, they just sat around not doing their jobs. (Sound like maybe hubby got a little too cozy with an OA?)

Without regard to one's own "sins" DUI is a serious, dangerous crime that kills innocent people. FURTHER, I don't drink and drive AND I don't work for an agency charged with curbing substance abuse, INCLUDING ALCOHOL. SO, this is fair game and you are in denial and facilitating bad acting.
